Comiso airport was born as a military airport between 1937 and 1939 and was dedicated to General Vincenzo Magliocco who died in 1936 during the war
in Ethiopia, on 30 May 2013 it was reconverted to civil and cargo aviation and in 2014 it was dedicated to Pio La Torre.
